DOULA (LABOUR COACHING) CERTIFICATION PROGRAMME

THE AIM OF THE PROGRAMME

“Labour coaching – Doula” training sets sight on the physical and mental preparation of future mothers for the new stage springing in their lives.

TRAINING OBJECTIVES

• Research conducted abroad has shown that births with doulas attended are given in a less amount of time and with fewer complications; and infants born in this manner appear to be healthier and are fed better.
• The training includes 80-hours of online education programme, source documents and educational videos; and is finished by supervision studies.

Doula (Labour coaching) certificate provides competence on labour coaching and counseling. Individuals entitled to bear this certificate can’t perform the applications as a treatment of health impairment. The context of the training does no embody a therapy or treatment method.

Acquirements for participants successfully completing the programme:

• To become a trained professional providing mothers emotional, physical and informational support before birth, during birth and right after.
• To master the description of labour coaching and its operative scopes.
• To provide support on general hospital procedures and making conscious decisions.

TRAINING PERIOD

The programme consists of both theoretical and practical knowledge, and takes a total amount of 80 hours.

EDUCATIONAL DOCUMENTS

Documents include the most updated information and applications. All documents are given to the participants at the beginning of the training.

SUCCESS CRITERIA

Throughout the training, practices of participants are evaluated and relevant feedback is given. Participants are expected to gain success on all of the applications of the programme. Attendance is required for all stages of the training.

CERTIFICATION

Participants successfully completing the training are given a certificate of success on “Doula (Labour Coaching) Education Programme”.Swiss Academy –SWISS accredit the certificate, while it also covers educator’s signature. Participants successfully completing the training are announced on the website.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

• Participants should be at least high-school graduate.
